This international workshop is dedicated to Jacques Flouquet. The workshop will take place at Ecole Supérieur de Physique et Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris  (ESPCI) in the heart of Paris from August 30th to September 1st, 2010.

The workshop will give the opportunity for Jacques to meet prestigious colleagues, well established previous post-doctorants and promising PhD students in a friendly atmosphere. The participants will cover different domains of low temperature physics which focus on heavy fermion matter, spintronics, low dimensional magnetism, quantum liquids and solids as well as the development under extreme conditions.

The challenge will not be to concentrate on the past, but to look to the future. Young participants may get some ideas thought of a long time ago but never pursued deeply. Thanks to short communications they will have a lot of opportunities to debate later with the speakers and thus to develop their own scientific personality.

Topics of the workshop are:

  • quantum phase transition
  • heavy fermion physics and Kondo effect
  • spin and valence fluctuations
  • multipolar ordering
  • low dimensional quantum magnetism
  • Fermiology
  • unconventional superconductivity
  • ultra-low temperature physics
  • low temperature instrumentation
